No More Toll Booths? Big Change Coming for Highway Travel

Latest News: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has made a big announcement that could change how people in India pay tolls on highways. Speaking at an event, he said the central government will bring a new toll policy within 15 days. He didn’t share full details but said that after this new system starts, people won’t have any reason to complain about toll payments. The major change is that there will be no need for physical toll booths anymore. Instead, toll will be automatically deducted from bank accounts using satellite tracking and vehicle number plate recognition. So, people won’t have to stop their vehicles or wait in long lines. At the same event, Gadkari also gave an update on the long-delayed Mumbai-Goa highway project. He said that the road will be fully completed by June this year. The project had many problems for years, including land disputes, legal issues, and even family fights between landowners. But now, he said that all these problems are solved and the work is going on quickly. Once it’s finished, the highway will reduce travel time and help in the development of the Konkan region. Gadkari also made a bold statement, saying that in the next two years, India's roads will be better than those in the United States. However, he admitted that some highways, like the Delhi-Jaipur and Mumbai-Goa roads, still have serious problems. He called them “black spots” of the department but said the government is working on fixing them. His announcement shows that India is planning big changes in road travel, using technology to make things faster, smoother, and more modern for everyone.
